Trying to play “catch up” with my blog right now and wanted to share some photos from last weekend at Governors Island.
Governors Island is only a quick ferry ride away from Brooklyn and it’s a great destination for kids. You can rent bikes (even tandem or 6-seater surrey bikes!) to explore the island on or ride down the longest slide in NYC at 57 feet at The Hills play area.
The island offers some of the best views of the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Lower Manhattan skyline and the Harbour.
We explored the abandoned military barracks at Colonel’s Row where Governors Island Art Fair takes place every year, every weekend in September. A hundred singular rooms of solo exhibitions of painting, photography, sculpture, installation, sound and video art etc.
The island is now closed for the season but we’ll definitely be back next year.
