It feels so good to be back in New York. V & I have thoroughly enjoyed this weekend together back in the city. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a NYC colourful wall crawl!
Do you remember when you were like, seven years old, and you’d coordinate outfits with your best friend, because matching was so cool? No? That was just me? (I hope not…) In one of my all-time favourite movies, Lost in Translation, the character Charlotte (played by Scarlett Johansson) talks about her dalliances with various hobbies. She mentions photography in particular, and says: “I tried taking pictures, but they were so mediocre. I guess every girl goes through a photography phase. […]

I am such a sucker for anything yellow! Yellow makes everything better. Shoes, flowers, the sun, cheese (?)… According to a recent international study, wearing yellow shoes can even increase your chances of happiness by 45%. It can also help improve health, wealth, career, love and relationships. I’ll let you come to your own conclusions… Oh, and happy Friday! Happiness is also when: the toenails match the pool the nails match the flowers

Wait, there’s more NYC Polaroid love! GP and I have also been listening to Vampire Weekend’s new song, Step, since it came out a few days ago. I’m especially in love with the music video since – guess what?! – it’s all about New York City and we can’t wait to be back!
If you too feel sorry that this wonderful tribute to street-art will be torn down to be replaced by soulless high-rises, show your love to 5 Pointz by signing the petition to save it: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/support5pointz/ And if you’re into street-art, check out my previous posts about the Mission District of San Francisco here and here!

Tagging may be illegal in New York, but not on this extraordinarily Technicolor five-storey, block-long industrial warehouse located in Long Island, New York. 5 Pointz – the moniker “5 Pointz” signifies a unification of all five boroughs: Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island – serves as a legal painting space for spray-painters (or as described by aficionados, “aerosol artists”) from around the world. 5 Pointz is the epicenter of the graffiti scene – and is even considered to […]

The High Line is a linear public park built atop an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. (And for the French reader, New York’s counterpart to Paris’s Promenade Plantée). About two storeys above street level, it will tweak your perspective of the city: you’ll almost feel like you’re hovering over the bustling streets! We wandered along its one mile (1.6 km) route taking in enchanting views of Chelsea, the Hudson river, and the Meatpacking […]

Literally… And I promise you, this is the last post about SF you’ll find on this blog. No, I mean, really. (I know.) We took a lot of photos in San Francisco. I guess maybe we really like it there, or something.
